Happenings and Highlights:

Haugen Doctors Attend Las Vegas TLH Conference
Dr. Flom, Dr. Moll, and Dr. Dahling attended a conference in Las Vegas, NV on advanced laparoscopy for total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH). A TLH is a minimally invasive strategy for undergoing hysterectomy. The benefits to TLH are decreased pain, shorter hospital stays, and less blood loss than more traditional routes of hysterectomy.

5/1/2011 Edina Location Services Change
Our Edina location is no longer performing mammography. Our scheduling staff is happy to help assist with coordinating your annual pelvic exam with a mammogram at a radiology facility that is convenient to you.

All of our mammogram films have been transferred to Consulting Radiologists Ltd., the radiology group who previously read the mammograms performed at John Haugen Associates. They are conveniently located a few blocks from our Edina location. Consulting Radiologists can be contacted at 952-915-4320, or you can find them at www.consultingradiologists.com.

We also refer patients to the Piper Breast Center, located in Minneapolis (612-863-3150, www.allina.com/ahs/anw.nsf/page/pbc_home) and West Health Radiology, located in the Plymouth West Health building (763-577-7133, www.westhealth.com/imaging_services.htm).

We would like to thank our mammogram technicians, Ceci Jacobs and Rosie Guntzel, who worked very hard for us over the years. We wish them all the best!

4/1/2011 Our Newest Family Members
Welcome to the newest family members of our physicians. Dr. Moll welcomed twins, Nariah and Armond, in September 2010. Dr. Ambur welcomed Kiran in December 2010. And Dr. West introduced Elsie to us all in March this year.

3/1/2011 John A. Haugen Associates is Going Paperless
John A. Haugen Associates is going paperless this spring. We are "going live" in May with Greenway, an electronic medical record. This will not only save on paper, but there will no longer be a need to transport charts office to office by fax or vehicle. And of course, we hope it will make things more efficient and convenient for our patients and staff.

5/17/2010 We Have 3 Sonographers at John A. Haugen Associates
We have 3 sonographers at John A. Haugen Associates; DeeAnn Raue, Joy Schumacher, and Mary Beth Olson. DeeAnn has been with John Haugen for 13 years and continues to provide excellent service in both obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound. We also recently welcomed Joy and Mary Beth to our team who are experienced ultrasonographers. We have ultrasound appointments available at the Edina location 5 days a week, Minneapolis 2 days a week, and Plymouth 3 days a week.

4/29/2010 Dr. Sarah Schmitz-Burns has Twins!
We are proud to announce the arrival of Dr. Sarah Schmitz-Burns and husband Scott’s twins, Liam and Eva. The twins were born on April 22nd and all are doing wonderfully! See these two cuties at Haugen Babies.

4/22/2010 John A. Haugen Associates Welcomes Char Bunger, Nurse Practitioner
John A. Haugen Associates is excited to announce the newest addition to our practice, Char Bunger, Nurse Practitioner. Char will be working at our Edina location and comes with a wonderful background and knowledge in Women’s Health. She had 10 years of experience at her previous practice in Iowa. Char is also certified in bone density and will meet with our patients who have Dexa bone scans, which are available at our Edina location. Welcome Char! 3/22/2010 John A. Haugen Associates says Farewell to Peggy Joy
John A. Haugen Associates said farewell to our long term employee and valued friend, Peggy Joy, who was a Nurse Practitioner at the Edina office. Peggy provided many years of wonderful service to our practice and her patients. She has moved to New Mexico to be closer to her family and grandchildren. We wish her the best of luck!

3/14/2010 Dr. Andrea Flom testifies at the State Capitol
Dr. Andrea Flom is currently Chair of the Minnesota Section of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). She has been testifying at the State Capitol regarding licensing and safety in Birth Centers outside of the hospital setting. Currently, birth centers(outside of the hospital) in Minnesota are unregulated. We support the legislature's effort to license and accredit birth centers. We are working with them to provide for a safe alternative to hospital based obstetric care by including language regarding qualified providers, standards for care, informed consent, and plans for transfer of emergency care.

3/9/2010 Dr. Linda Maag recognized in Minneapolis/St.Paul Magazine
Congratulations to Dr. Linda Maag who was recognized in the recent issue of "Minneapolis/St.Paul Magazine Top Doctors Of 2010." Over the years, several of the John A. Haugen physicians have been recognized here. Dr. Maag is a repeat recipient of this award.
